Sensoria are pleased to co-present this Special Screening of The Death of Robin Hood, introduced by and followed by a live performance from Sheffield musician Jim Ghedi.

THE DEATH OF ROBIN HOOD is a darker reimagining of the classic Robin Hood tale. Set of its time, the film sees the title character grappling with his past after a life of crime and murder; a battleworn loner who finds himself gravely injured after a battle he thought would be his last. In the hands of a mysterious woman, he is offered a chance at salvation.

Starring Hugh Jackman, Bill Skarsgård, Jodie Comer, Murray Bartlett, Noah Jupe.

Sheffield-based composer and artist Jim Ghedi crafts a new folk cannon with his epic The Death of Robin Hood Original Soundtrack.

Droning harmoniums and hurdy gurdy lay a thick bed of sound for soaring fiddle melodies, with Ghedi’s signature wailing vocal occasionally floating on top in this wholly unique approach to film score. Standout track “Twa Corbies” feels like both a call to battle and a painful lament, illustrating Robin Hood’s attempts to grapple with his past after a life of crime and murder.

Ghedi is a composer and artist pushing the bounds of folk music. His fresh approach to traditional folk music made him the ideal pairing for director Michael Sarnoski’s dark reimagining of the classic tale of Robin Hood.
