Lily Fontaine

We are delighted to welcome Lily Fontaine (English Teacher) to SensoriaPro.

Raised across both sides of the Pennines, Lily Fontaine is a multimedia creative whose work combines social commentary and surrealism to form a foundational element of the band English Teacher’s creative output. English Teacher’s recent Mercury Prize-winning, top ten debut album ‘This Could be Texas’ saw critical acclaim, with The Times describing it as ‘One of the great debut albums of the 21st century.’ Alongside songwriting, Lily also DJs, writes prose and creates visual art.

Lily will be in conversation discussing career opportunities for artists in the North, arts funding and sync.

Nainita Desai

We are delighted to welcome Award-winning composer Nainita Desai.

Nainita will give an illustrated talk covering her huge catalogue of work, including Tales of Kenzera; Zau the EA video game, The Deepest Breath (Netflix Feature Doc) and Nautilus the upcoming action-adventure series for Amazon.

Acclaimed with three recent Emmy nominations and a win in 2022 for The Reason I Jump, Nainita Desai is a Critics Choice nominated composer, and winner of an RTS award and the World Soundtrack Awards 2021 for Discovery of the Year. A double BIFA and Cinema Eye Honors nominee, BAFTA Breakthrough Brit and IFMCA Breakthrough Composer of the Year 2019, Nainita was described by Empire magazine as one of the top 5 composers to watch for 2022 who also won the Women In Film & TV Award for Creative Technology 2022.

Amongst her work on various BAFTA, Academy Award,  and Emmy acclaimed productions, 2024 projects include Sundance Feature Nocturnes,  Nautilus the upcoming fantasy action-adventure series for Amazon/Disney+ and ITV Drama The Tower.

Nainita’s recent projects include the hit Netflix documentary 14 Peaks: Nothing Is Impossible for which she earned a Primetime Emmy nomination. In addition, Nainita’s work on John Batsekk’s feature The Deepest Breath (A24, Netflix) earned her Critics Choice, HMMA, ASCAP, Camille and SCL award nominations for Best Original Score. Her other notable credits include the Oscar-nominated and BAFTA and Cannes-winning feature documentary For Sama, along with the Sundance-winning film The Reason I Jump and the Emmy-nominated score for Body Parts. Recent projects include the BBC action thriller series Crossfire, Sky comedy drama Funny Woman, 2024 Sundance craft-winning feature doc Nocturnes for Sandbox films and the landmark natural history series Predators for Sky/Netflix and the iconic Call of Duty video game franchise.

Nainita has also scored landmark natural history series Earthsounds for Apple TV+, feature doc The Contestant for Hulu,  EA video game Tales of Kenzera: Zau, and the James Cameron series Ocean Xplorers for the BBC / Nat Geo. Her upcoming work extends to video games for Sony Interactive as well as feature documentaries for Netflix, Universal and series for National Geographic and SKY documentaries.

Scoring Contest – Threads

• The ever-popular SCORING CONTEST returns. This panel session offers a unique challenge each year. Composers can submit their music to a specially selected film clip – a shortlist is then ‘critiqued’ by our panel of experts on the day and a winner is voted by both the panel and the audience. This year sees a challenging brief to compose new music for the trailer to the 1984 docu-drama Threads*.

• • As well as securing a free Delegate Pass for SensoriaPro 2025, the winner will enjoy the opportunity to have 2 tracks professionally mastered by The Bowling Green Mastering (Dean Honer) and receive a year’s print and digital subscription to Sound On Sound magazine.
  • Added to the prize pot will be an LFOmo pedal courtesy of Soundgas.
  • Plus 2 x £50 vouchers are up for grabs too (Winner and Honorary Mention), courtesy of Rich Tone Music.

• Roundtable guests include Simon Benger (Relationship Manager, Music) at Arts Council England, Phil Loutsis (VP, AWAL Core & Artist Support) and  Tom Sweet (Senior Relationship Manager, Music) at the British Council.
